Not Much of a Reception

Especially when the bride's and groom's fathers are both murdered at the wedding.

"This is a horrible crime. The world has to know this has nothing to do with
Islam."

I understand his sentiment, but the fact is that this mass murder, like all the others committed by al Qaeda and like-minded groups, has everything to do with Islam. It is up to sane Muslims everywhere to reclaim their religion from the sadists and fanatics.

Al Qaeda, eh...

LA Times:

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that Israelis staying at the Radisson on Wednesday had been evacuated before the attacks and escorted back home "apparently due to a specific security threat."

Amos N. Guiora, a former senior Israeli counter-terrorism official, said in a phone interview with The Times that sources in Israel had also told him about the pre-attack evacuations.

"It means there was excellent intelligence that this thing was going to happen," said Guiora, a former leader of the Israel Defense Forces who now heads the Institute for Global Security Law and Policy at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. "The question that needs to be answered is why weren't the Jordanians working at the hotel similarly removed?"

Oh yeah, that's right. Osama is good friends with the Israelis. I almost forgot that part. Good thing he warned them....

I sure hope this isn't one of those 'all the Jews got out of the WTC 30 minutes before the first plane hit' stories. Bombing civilians is murder, no matter who had good intelligence that day.

From Today's Minneapolis Editorial page:

Blood of innocents means nothing to terrorists

Stop thinking of terrorism as a Muslim organization. The tragedy in Jordan Wednesday shows that Muslims are targeted by terrorism, too. Islam never justified killing innocent people whether they are Jews, Christians or of any belief. Terrorists are people with brutal mentality, seeking extremism wherever they are. The world "Islam" is literally translated to English as "peacefulness."

Why are not the world's Arab and Muslim leaders voicing abject outrage at the ugliness within their own societies -- much less the spilling of their own innocent citizens' blood?

Why aren't these same leaders mounting a collective jihad against the insurgency jihad, in order to save themselves (and the rest of us)?
